Our Process

You can’t improve what you don’t measure. Every engagement starts with benchmarking key page types for mobile and desktop users. We use both real world data and several lab testing tools to understand where the issues are coming from. Then, we make recommendations on how to improve your Core Web Vitals.

When it comes to implementation, we prefer working with and advising your own theme developers whether they are in-house or at an agency. If you do not have developer resources, we can also provide implementation services.

Every engagement both starts and ends with measuring. Once changes are made, we validate that performance improved with real user data.

Case Study

After working with us, Sunday Citizen improved their site speed resulting in a 6% increase in conversions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a Plus Merchant to use Professional Services?

No, any merchant can use this team.

Is the only way to improve performance of my store to change theme?

Not necessarily. While modern themes (like Dawn) have more modern best practices built in, spending time updating an old theme can still improve your site speed.

Do I need to go 'headless' for a fast store?

Definitely not. In fact, going headless is no guarantee of a faster store. It is possible to make a theme based store fast through applying best practices and including performance in your design thinking.

We rely on lots of 3rd Party apps, can you still help?

Absolutely, while 3rd party apps can be necessary there are many things you can do to improve how they load to minimise performance impact.

Can you make the changes for me?

Yes we can, although we recommend us working with the people that currently maintain your store code. That way the history and context stays for all future work done on the store.

Will my Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights scores improve?

We focus on real user performance data, specifically the Core Web Vitals, rather than Lighthouse or PageSpeed Insights. Why? Real user experience is both what gets you more conversions and what is used for your Google search engine rankings. Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights is a calculation that changes which is based on a single "lab" run. Generally speaking, they should improve but we don't focus on them.
